All of the following attract butterflies to some degree.
Some are very species specific -- Milkweeds (Asclepias) attract
Monarchs. One plant not on the list is a shrub, Lindera benzoin or
Spicebush. It doesn't attract adult butterflies but serves as a food
source for Spicebush Swallowtail caterpillars.
Hummingbirds generally only come to red flowers -- Lobelia cardinalis,
Red Monarda didyma.
